The 2019 Bollywood film Chhichhore is a coming-of-age comedy-drama that follows a group of college friends from their chaotic hostel days in the 1990s to their reunion in the present day. The Story The narrative is split between two timelines: The Present (2019): Aniruddh "Anni" Pathak and his ex-wife Maya are devastated when their son, Raghav, attempts suicide after failing a high-stakes engineering entrance exam (JEE). Raghav feels like a "loser" and loses his will to live. To save him, Anni calls his old college friends to the hospital to share stories of their own failures, hoping to show Raghav that a single exam does not define a person's life. The Past (1992): Through flashbacks, we see the friends at National College in "Hostel 4" (H4), a hostel notoriously labeled as the "Losers' Hostel". The group enters the "General Championship" (GC), a fierce inter-hostel sports competition, to shed their "loser" tag and defeat their rivals in Hostel 3 (H3). Despite their quirks and limited skills, they prove that the effort put into the journey is more important than the final result.
