245 - Meyd
The Meid 245 metric is a relatively small meteorite, measuring approximately 4.5 x 4.2 x 2.9 cm in size, and weighing around 0.5 kg. It was discovered in 2003 in Meid, in the Nubian Desert of the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya (now known as Libya). The meteorite's location is significant, as it falls within the vast expanse of the Sahara Desert, an area known for its extreme temperatures and lack of moisture.
The Meid 245 is primarily composed of feldspathic breccias, a type of rock that forms through the impact of a single meteorite with a surface already containing feldspar-rich rocks. The meteorite's matrix includes fine-grained glassy material, as well as clasts of anorthositic rocks, which are common in lunar rocks and have high concentrations of the metal oxides (such as Fe, Ni, and Co). meyd 245
