Quackprek Review

Coined by education critics and developmental psychologists, "QuackPreK" refers to programs that claim to accelerate infant/toddler brain development, teach advanced literacy to two-year-olds, or "unlock genius" through unproven methodologies. Unlike evidence-based programs (Montessori, Reggio Emilia, HighScope, or Tools of the Mind), QuackPreK operates on anecdotes, fear-based marketing, and pseudoscientific neuroscience.

With the rise of edtech, many QuackPreK programs are app-based or tablet-dependent. They claim that AI-driven algorithms can detect a 3-year-old’s "learning gaps." In reality, the AAP recommends zero screen time for children under 18 months (except video chatting) and less than one hour per day for ages 2-5 of high-quality programming. QuackPreK programs ignore these guidelines, substituting human interaction—the single most critical factor in early brain development—with glowing rectangles. quackprek
