Frankie Heck (Patricia Heaton), a slightly frazzled, disorganized car saleswoman, and her husband Mike (Neil Flynn), a quiet, stoic manager at a quarry, are just trying to keep their heads above water. They have three very different kids: popular but dim-witted oldest son Axl, awkward and neurotic middle child Sue, and eccentric genius youngest son Brick.
