Placenta Ppt

The placenta is the life-support system for a developing baby. It normally attaches to the top or side of the uterine wall. In placenta previa, the placenta sits at the bottom. This position is problematic because the cervix is the "exit door" for birth. If the placenta blocks this door, it can cause severe bleeding as the cervix begins to thin and open during late pregnancy or labor. Types of Placenta Previa

The hallmark sign of placenta previa is painless, bright red vaginal bleeding during the second half of pregnancy. The bleeding can range from light spotting to a heavy flow. It may stop on its own but almost always recurs days or weeks later. Some women also experience uterine contractions along with the bleeding. placenta ppt
